I'm really tickled that my 'Christmas cactus' is starting to bloom. I was watering the plants yesterday and noticed the beginnings of flowers! When I talked to mom she told me that 3 of hers are starting to bloom also. It's so nice to have flowers around the house. you know as a kid I hated watering all of mom's plants. Funny how the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. That's one of the things I've disliked about renting here in Spring Creek. There is NO landscaping. It's actually typical of the area. Being such a dry high mountain area gardening can be such a challenge. I do have a whole bunch of pots that I've planted flowers in but I miss my garden and my roses and my choke cherry bush and my raspberries.... well the list is almost endless........ That will be my almost first project when we finaly do buy a house here! So what are you being for halloween? Zac finaly decided to go as Batman after numerous costume changes. Luckily he has a collection of costumes for play dress up so we had the required stuff without a trip to Walmart (thank goodness). I have to take Spring Creek FBLA to the Boise airport tonight but I will get to go with Zac and Dad trick or treating before I have to leave but I will have to get a nap in this afternoon. It looks to be a long night since they aren't leaving till 120:30 PM for a 6:30 AM flight!

Home again, home again, jiggidy jig
we made it home later than we had wanted last night..... go figure. It was a nice visit with everyone. It sure is great seeing the grandkids and being with everyone.. John and Ashleigh have such a cute little house. I really like it. Brianna was disappointed that we couldn't take her home with us. I promised her we would find time somehow to get her here for a visit. So all in all it was a very nice weekend

Off we go
We're heading to SLC today to visit the family. It's been since the beginning of Aug. when we had the reunion that we've been there. I think this is the longest stretch since we moved to Nevada. Wow! And I've been OK with it. Amazing. It will be nice to get to see everyone, or as most of everyone that we can fit in. We're going to stay with Courtney this time as Mom has her brother staying with her for a few months. Can you believe that she let our room out? I just know that our name is posted over the door, isn't it? I had a hard time getting moving this morning after not getting to bed till about 1:30 AM. Needless to say it was a very long day. Considering I left at 5:15 AM. It was a fun trip however. Zac and dad went out to dinner while I was working and had a great time just the two of them. So back to packing it is......have a great weekend everyone!

Rain, sun and snow
We got it all in Elko today. I took the photography class form Spring Creek High School to Tuascarora today. They have some really neat historical buildings (ok the whole town is historical buildings.) that they like to go take pictures of every year. They then display their efforts at the Folk Life Museum during the Cowboy Poetry Week the beginning of Jan. neat huh? So we left Spring Creek at about 7:45 am. It was raining and starting to snow. The advisor was wondering if she should have cancelled the trip due to the weather. Then as we started up the canyon it started snowing more. By time we got to Tuscarora the snow was coming down pretty good with about 1.5 inches on the groumd. While she gave instructions to the students the snow almost stopped.... just enough to make picture taking fairly good! However with the snow came mud which they all tracked onto the bus! While they were eating lunch guess who got to sweep the bus? You thought it magically happened? No.... it took me 20 min. to do a 10 min. job on a normal day. After I dropped them at school I got to sweep again.... oh the life. It was however a fun trip. Different than the trips I've been taking. Variety is the spice of life they say. Zac was tickeled that I got home early so now we're hanging out, the puppy is having fun chasing Zac and trying to eat him. Rick will be home from work and I told him that I got home early enough that I just might make him dinner.

It's a BOY!!!
John and his wife Ashleigh just called. They had the ultrasound this morning and I was waiting to hear the results. As you noticed they are going to have a baby boy on or around March 8, 2008. So of course my next question was 'do you have any names picked out?' I think every name should have some kind of meaning or story or family attactment. So far they have picked Zane which is a variation of John (I didn't ask how) Merrick which has Rick in it for both of their dads and Asher for Ashleigh. Cool huh? Now Grandma can start finding cute little boy stuff! I just love finding things for my grandkids. So now I'll keep everyone baby updated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another Monday oops tuesday
Wow a whole week has gone by and I haven't posted anything! It was a crazy week. After our migraine monday I worked the rest of the week. I had 3 trips. Fri. and Sat. were long days. I had an afternoon route friday and then jumped into a car for a relief drive. We went to Fernly, NV which is just outside of Reno to pick up the football team from Spring Creek. The team didn't get done with the game till 10:45 PM. By time they loaded the busses and we got dinner for all of them it was almost midnight when we actually got on the road headed home. Needless to say it 6:15 AM by time I got home and straight to bed because at 4:00 PM I had to be back to do it all over again. This time it was Twin Falls, ID to pick up the Band form Elko. This was a much shorter trip. When the busses got to the truck stop we were meating them at one of them had developed a nasty radiator leak It took an hour to decide that they were going to leave the bus there to get fixed. So we crammed the the whole group on 3 busses and I got to be a passenger instead of a driver. I would much rather be the driver. But at least the week is over and I am so far enjoying a quiet monday. Zac is off to school and Rick is at work and the only noise to be had is the dogs barking at each other. OOPS! It's tuesday. What ever happened to monday? Oh well. I guess it's time to take the dogs for a walk and get a shower so I can get on with the day.

Monday blues
Rick found an intersting way to take a monday off from work. It all started when I got up at 5:30 am to take the dogs out to potty. Rick was busy getting ready for work, by the time I came in I had a killer migraine.... just like that. He took one look at me and asked if we needed to go to the emergency room. All I could do was nod yes. So he got Zac up & dressed and off we went. A demerol shot and hour and a half later and we were headed home. I only lasted about another hour befroe being off to laa laa land for the day. Rick took a long nap also and claimed that he was having affects from the demerol shot he didn't get. So we hung out for the day and he took very good care of me like he always does when I'm under the weather. I have such a great guy! So now it's back to life and I'm off to Winnemucca for a trip today. Rick gets to get Zac from the babysitter and they get to have a guy evening till I get home. I think Zac really likes their guy nights without mom.

There and back again
OK, update for my relief drives. Yesterday I left at 2:00 PM for Reno. There were 4 of us going. We got to Reno (Sparkes) at about 7:15 PM and went to the first school where we dropped off the first 2 drivers and picked up the 2 that had taken the football team from Elko high school. Then we made a quick stop for dog food (can you believe I can't get the dog food I use in Elko?) Then we headed to Sparks High School where Linda and I took over, 2 of the coaches had driven the team and we were taking them home. The game got over and we left the school at 10:00 PM. We took them to a local burger joint to eat and left Sparks at about 10:45 PM. I was the lead bus. There is a truck stop called Burns Bros. that we make a stop at on these trips for potty and what not. We arrived there at about 1:00 AM. Our final destination of Spring Creek High School was at 4:00 AM. after unloading the team and getting all their gear off I didn't leave there till 4:30. I finaly got back to the Elko yard at about 5:00 AM and home by 5:30. Straight to bed for about 5 hrs. sleep and up to do it all over again. This time I took a nap in the car going out so I got 2 more hours sleep. I picked up the Elko High School Soccer team in Sparks this time and they had eaten and were ready to go home. So we got back at the early hour of midnight. Now how's that for 2 days work? Confusing? sometimes. All in a days work. Now I'm going to relaxe and undwind and go back to bed and if anyone wakes me up before I'm ready I'm going to ignore them!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
It's been snowing since early this morning. Can you believe that? Chance had his first encounter when I took him out to potty. He loved it! He got the zoomies and was chasing Katie around and then found out it tastes good too, I had a hard time convincing him to come back inside. Even Zac wanted to walk to the bus stop instead of getting a ride so he could walk in the snow. He's been asking since mid July when it was going to snow. I guess I have a house full of snow babies. I like the snow to if it didn't have to be cold I wouldn't mind it all the time. I have a relief drive this afternoon to Reno, the weather will definitely make it interesting. At least it's not sticking to the roads...yet. It's a good thing I'm not intimidated by the snow. Although the bus I brought home the other night was a nightmare to drive... the mines many years ago donated MCI motor coaches to the school district for field trips, they are like the greyhound buses you see on the roads. They painted them to match the different schools colors and are fun for the teams but they are incredibly old and so are more of a challenge to drive. I'm hoping they don't have any of those on this trip :) The particular bus I drove had steering issues, the steering was almost outside of safety requirements and I had to really concentrate and be aware of what was going on. Of course the wind didn't help. It can blow out here in the desert almost at hurricane force.

Sleep
Well I finaly got some sleep. Thank goodness. I was changing some pictures on the page and realized I don't have enough pictures of my kids and grandkids! Some of them are old and some of them are new but all of them are fun. And I love the comments from people. So if you visit leave a comment! That's half the fun and thank you to those who have.

Puppy wake up call
So I had a relief drive last night and didn't get home till 2:30 AM. I got up and got Zac off to school and headed back to bed. I finaly got back to sleep and Kaite started barking that womeone was here. I got up and checked things out and the neighbor was chasing her dog down that had gotten loose. I was able to help her corral the dog. Way to go Katie for alerting me. When I crawled in bed again the puppy decided that it was time for me to get up and started chewing on various items in my room. So I climbed out of bed again and decided that maybe if I fed him he would go back to sleep for a while. Wish me luck. Luckily I've got about 4 more hours till Zac gets home so maybe I will get some sleep. Gotta love puppies :)

Good morning, Zac is off to school wearing his new spiderman shirt. There is frost on the ground and autumn in the air. It's only 28 degrees this morning, welcome to the Nevada high mountain desert.

Tommorrow is a new day
So here it is a cold monday and I have 2 dogs driving me nuts. I've been sick the last few days so we haven't had our daily walks and outside play time and Katie and Chance are getting cabin fever. There is nothing worse than a puppy with too much energy. Zac got 2 new nintendo games over the weekend so he's lost in his room wiht Godzilla and Batman. He wasn't too disapointed at not going to the babysitter's because he has the new games. Rick is working and I'm stuck on the couch trying to cough my lungs out. What a great monday. I even called off my field trip for today I feel so miserable. Ok I'll try not to whine for much longer. So now it's raining and of course we need the rain but it's cold rain. I guess summer's really over. Tommorrow is a new day.
