In memory.... a memorial

5 yrs ago (wow has it been 5 yrs?) Feb. was a very long emotional month for us. It started with the passing of my father, Howard James Glad... love ya pop! and 3 weeks later we were shocked when we got the phone call that Rick's mom, Dorothy Irene Garrison Clarke Bowlby had fallen to a stroke. We made the emergency trip to RI to see her before she left us. The Dr.'s had her on life support, not only to keep her alive until the family could get there but also because she was an organ donor.

Irene & Christina.... what a beautiful picture! I'm not sure when this was taken.... Christina? When was this taken?

I don't have all of my pic's on this computer yet but here are just a few of the memories....

Dad with Nathan circa 2000. Dad always loved being with his grandkids. He always had patience when he talked to them and taught them things. It always touched me the love he had for his family. He would always have time to talk or sit with you. One of the things that I loved doing with Dad was sitting out back at night and looking for satelites in the night sky. we saw some too, one of his favorite sayings was... if you look real close you might just see a deer (that of course was when we were camping) John has picked it up and it's funny to hear him parody his grandfather. He also has picked up grandpa's knack for spotting deer! ANd of course at Christmas listening to Dad read the christmas stories... what a legacy that has become.... it's almost as much fun listening to my brothers and husband read the stories.

Irene also loved her grandchildren very much. One of the few things that made her sad in life was that her grandchildren lived so far away. I know she traveled to Arizona to spend time with Mark and their children frequently and having Christina live close with her son John was wonderful. She loved talkinbg to them on the phone and hearing how and what their lives were up to.

So Irene, Dad you are missed, your family loves you dearly and you are still very much a part of our lives. Now it's off to living life again. Katie has a date with the vet to get an x-ray and hopefully find out why she can hardly walk. SHe has been limping on her back legs for the last week and she's not getting any better! Here's Katie when she was young and svelt, after graduating from obedience class. I'm not sure who learned to be more obedient, her or me? So if you're an animal person keep Katie in your prayers today that whatever is going on is not serious... Katie is a senior citizen having turned 9 last month......OK I won't worry too much.... or at least I'll try not to!

earthquake update.....

so I've been surfing the net for information on our earthquake (did I mention I'm a news junkie?) if you go to the USGS website it posts info and KUTV.com is the chanel 2 news station that we watch. Like I said.... if you're interested. Rick finaly said enough of the news so we're watching one of my fav's What not to Wear!

EARTHQUAKE!

We got a shakening awakening this morning at 6:15 Zac and I were standing in the kitchen and the floor started to move, it almost felt like it does when the wind blows really hard but much more intensified. Only lasted about 15 or 20 seconds or so... weird! We're fine no damage here, it looks like the epicenter was about 50 miles from here, and there was damage in Wells Nevada where the epicenter was/is. I'm feeling pretty blessed right now that we didn't have any damage. Wew! I just talked to Margaret, she didn't feel it in Vegas but it has been reported that it was felt wide spread from Idaho to Arizona. Zac then wanted to know if school was going to be cancelled. I told him no, he had to go to school. I actually stopped for a second and thought about keeping him home just in case and then thought, don't be crazy send him to school. It's interesting the thoughts that go through your head when something like this happens. John just called to check on us, somebody cares. So we'll keep you updated, we're glued to the TV station right now getting the info we can.

getting info

I've spent quite a bit of time today getting everyone's email address so I can have it on the laptop. It's been nice having everyone send a note and checking in. It's been kind of slow around here the last few days.... the sun was out the last few days thawing everything out and making LOTS of mud! I hate mud, Chance came in almost covered with it earlier so he got a trip to the tub to get cleaned up. Zac and I are meating Rick in town in awhile so he can buy my birthday cake. I refused to buy my own cake! But it will be chocolate! So we're going to meet his ride and get dinner and cake (and maybe a laptop bag) Hee hee hee.... so how was your day?

Computers again

Rick got me a laptop for my Anniversary/Valentines/Birthday present and the Fedex lady finaly showed up today! I should have paid the extra $12 bucks to get it last friday instead of it sitting in the SLC warehouse all weekend! Oh well, live and learn. So now after a call to Frontier tech support I am officialy online, hooked up and ready to go. That's why I thought I'd try posting form my wireless laptop! So mkaybe now I'll be able to be better updated when I'm gone on trips or when we're in SLC visiting! wish me luck!

Computers.......

Two years ago when we moved to Nevada (can you believe it's been 2 yrs.?) We got a new computer. The old one was still useable but that was one of the things I had my heart set on was a newer, faster, more memory computer. So being the parent I am (and Rick too) we offered the computer to John & Ashleigh. They didn't have one and Ashleigh's dad had the ability to fix the stuff that was wrong and make it working spiffy again. I made John promise to save the information that I wanted form it. Well finally this last weekend I got the disks' that Ashleigh's dad had made. There were over 500 pic's on it and a slew of video's we had taken including some the kids had made years ago....clamation ones! Thye are fantastic and Rick is going to post them on u-tube. When he does Iwill put a link here so you can all watch them and tell me what you think. Needless to say I had a great time reliving a bunch of the past. Now I have to get them all sorted and put into files and all that fun! So I now have lots of new pic's to post in the future.

Snow Hurricane

So this is what the truck looked like Friday morning after getting stuck at the end of our driveway thursday night. And this is what Rick looked like after about an hour of digging it out.

And this is the Spring Creek girls Spartens basketball team after their game with Dayton. My week ended up being all changed. When I went back to work Thurs. I was told the driver who was originaly going to take the wendover team was over being sick and could take the trip. I was happy not to have to drive to Wendover.

And here is a beautiful sunrise after all that snow.

And of course the pile of snow that used to blanket our driveway. This is only half of the driveway plowed! So our week has been filled with snow and long working hours and missed work and school days because of the snow. It's really been an interesting winter in Spring Creek, Nevada so far! I think we are ready for spring now!
